Ronaldinho opted for a return to Brazil rather than sign for Blackburn Rovers.

In 2011 the Brazilian legend left AC Milan and was linked with a surprise move to the Ewood Park side who had been taken over by Indian company Venky's.

In an interview with Four Four Two Ronaldinho confirmed that the speculation was true.

He said: “About Blackburn: we talked to them, but I wanted to come back home to Brazil.”

He also confirmed that he was very close to joining Manchester United in 2003 but moved to Barcelona instead, creating history in the process.

The big interview: Ronaldinho – “I knew Messi was a better player than me… I always tried to be a good influence on him”
